Real is the market and technology leader, with over 90% of the streamed media server (and player) market. They have a substantial lead over MSFT and MSFT, frankly, is not making it a big development focus right now, according to people I know in the company. Perhaps the DOJ effect in play.

RNWK does have significant strategic alliances with a number of big net players, including AOL, @Home, Excite, and others, to make RealPlayer an integrated part of their services.

I see nothing but upside for RNWK and I have been long since the IPO.

RNWK has partnered with Intel, AOL, @Home, Macromedia, and several others. Sounds like "powerful friends" to me. They have 85% (at least) of the streaming media market, which will only get better with time.

That's why we're looking for RNWK's takeout, JD.

Buy-side analyst Steve Harmon believes AOL should acquire it, and if not AOL, then ATHM.

We'll see who starts breathing down RNWK's neck as soon as the BCST love-fest is over. Some here believe Rob G. won't entertain offers, but RNWK's just too strategic to Net consolidators to leave alone. Somebody will want those 57 million eyeballs at almost any price, and soon...
