Maurice, what you say makes sense. Ericy will make its W-CDMA closer to cdma 2000; as you know I am just a tassle loafer and know nothing about technology. But, it is inefficient for Ericy to make the two modes too different. W-CDMA differences will be to meld with GSM on those items where difference is needed. The more Ericy can make them the same, the more overlap and the more profit through reliance on the same parts, etc. As long as Ericy provides a mode that meets GSM carrier needs, at less cost than conversion to cdma, it will do very well with it. But, purely "marketing" differences (to disadvantage cdma) are no longer necessary and would, I think, be counterproductive, because as the wireless carriers consolidate they will want as much convergence as reasonably possible.

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! You hit the nail on the head. The fact that Q is stepping aside and letting the carriers take over is essentially proof that the standards wars are OVER...

Just semantics but whatever NTT goes to most certainly will NOT be dubbed CDMAone.

Dave....hoping for an exogenously produced selloff:-)
