"I currently can press a button on my Palm Pilot and an IR beam wirelessly instructs my PC's printer to print out the designated document. If 3COM technology can do this, it should only be a short step for IDT to develop similar wireless technology for Net2Phone. It would require the manufacture of wireless handsets that would work up to, say, 400 meters from your home PC and would instruct your (always on) PC to connect to the IDT telephony network and make local and long distance calls, just as the current Net2Phone does with a more directly connected mouseclick. Make sense?"

It doesn't make sense using an IR transmission since it is only line of sight. Of course other transmission techniques could be implemented.
