The comparative shopper: CompUSA ups the ante

OK, I'm looking to buy several new machines. Dell's Celeron 333 with 32MB RAM is back up at 999 (with monitor). Somewhat pricier than the eMachine 366 (I don't need a monitor). But, what caught my eye today was the ad from CompUSA.

Celeron 433MHz system 999.95. Includes 64MB RAM, 6.4GB HD, 40x CD-ROM, 56K modem, 15-inch monitor and Lexmark Color Jetprinter 1100 (note, rebates involved of $60). No, I don't know what the price is for just the PC. Probably less.

This is really interesting, IMO. CompUSA not only builds pretty decent machines, according to previous reviews, but also has a fairly decent corporate business (no, not like DELL).

In any event, CompUSA is reacting to the eMachine initiatives IMO. Interesting development.
