Let's call a spade a spade. You're saying that the ones who made money in Amazon are just dumb lucky, so you can rationalize that those who shorted Amazon (including yourself) were just dumb unlucky. You keep thinking that way, and you'll never expect much from yourself.

Everyone I know who made money in Amazon (and I know several) did his homework, listened objectively to expert advice, got the picture, took a premeditated risk and is sweating it out...all from the long side.

I'm sure there are people who made money taking blind chances one way or the other, but I don't personally know any of them.
