re OIL, any articles before about July 98 (i.e. that Economist article) are no longer valid. A lot has happened to change the valuation of the company since then. I am looking through the press releases today to try to determine if buying is warranted.

Slider mentioned SEV and HEC as better. I won't touch SEV due to the very poor insider activity. If the folks running the company aren't buying, why should I?? HEC doesn't look bad, but is trading at 12 times sales, while OIL is trading at 1.2 times sales.

OIL - Insider Buying

<<In your Triton chat (OIL), I'm surprised no one commented on the recent insider buying.>>

Greg: Which particular insider buys are you referring to?

biz.yahoo.com

Looks like insiders have been buying all the way down. JMHO.

gm,
Take a hard look at UTI. Pre-disaster high of about 50...now trading at 9 3/4. In addition they have made several aquisitions, and centralizing, that should add an even bigger bang to earnings in the future. UTI and PTEN are the big Land plays in my opinion.
