Ice, The military never made sense in their security precautions. They gave me a top secret clearance for my entire enlistment. Nuff said. <g>

**OT** , >>it was tough for US civilians to get onto Anderson AFB (a SAC base) on Guam.<< You obviously never watched the line of cars coming through the "unauthorized entrance road" on Bingo night. We brought it up to the base security council a few times but the club wanted the revenue so they ignored it. Air Force security has been a joke for as long as I have been in. The only "good" security was near the alert B-52s and even that didn't tighten up until you were already close enough to hand throw a grenade under one of the Nuke loaded Aircraft.

Anderson also would strictly hold AF members to the limit on food items but then let the locals buy 6 grocery carts full of stuff so they could hold their fiestas. Never mind that most of it was cigarettes and other items that were commonly on the black market downtown.

US security is only for those that pose no threat or red tape for those that are supposed to have access. If you are one of the ones that shouldn't be there, it will take all of about 30 seconds to find a way in. I remember that I worked with a guy back when we were a 100% nuclear base in Maine. He had all the security clearances and had been checked out etc by all the agencies. One night coming back from a night of drinking in Canada, they ran a routine border check and found that he was wanted for armed robbery in California and embezzelment from a bank in New York. Only in America could a wanted man get clearance to work on Nukes. And only in America can people not think it a coincidence that when Monica Lewinski is in the news, Clinton has to bomb Iraq, when he is getting impeached, he has to bomb Iraq, when China gives illegal campaign contributions and then turns out to be stealing nuke secrets, he suddenly has to start a no win war with Serbs. The dumbing down of America continues.....
