re: color schemes...

For a variety of reasons I was viewing the new Java Itch client in a larger than usual window (screen resolution was smaller - fewer pixels). Surprise: the dark colors were quite readible at that size!

I admire the color schemes ... but must agree, for finer screen resolutions anyway, that the dark 'styles' are difficult to read. Perhaps they were designed or considered to be a larger element of the display than we actually use them as.

If anyone from the Datek design police is reading: please inoculate your color scheme designers with an exposure to larger (finer) screen resolutions (as in MORE pixels) as well as the ergonomics of dark backgrounds AND backlighting. If you put a few bright spots BEHIND the designers they may begin to understand screen reflections present in real-world sub-optimal environments.
