Just read the NYT piece. The only part of the story that doesn't ring true, is the business of the traditional market having BETTER prices 80% of the time.

Clearly, they are confusing quoted bid/ask with the fact that REAL daytraders sell at the OFFER and buy at the BID. This is a far cry from what the public does. Come to think of it, the MM's are not on the inside long enough on some names to even count. What the hell was she talking about???

Frontrunning. Fantasy? Who knows. So tempting, I'd demand my own mother be audited. Where are the mechanisms in place to PREVENT it? The standard 'no comment' or 'we don't do things like that' won't cut it. Show me the audit trail that makes it impossible.

The rest of the piece speaks for itself. Like the bull market, when and if it lies down and dies, expect no help from an ECN. Josh has his foot positioned right next to the power cord. ;)
