I drove through Ca last summer when N. Ca gas prices hit 1.30 for the first time which was the first huge spike. The arguments the gas companies were using was that it was "California regulation" and state related things. I had just been through Fresno and gas there was $1.10 - max... so it is NOT a statewide problem. Sounds to me like sombody at Exxon corp hq in Dallas is looking at Silicon Valley real estate and stock prices and basing the N. Ca pricing models on that.

I wish we all got as upset about the tax rates in this country as we do gas prices. If we did, things would change QUICK! It's like the anger I hear from those who freakout over ATM charges of $1.50, while the medium tax rate for state, fed, S/S and any number of other related taxes or user fees, is 30% - 50%+. We need a serious priority adjustment.

The real greed in this country is not Chevron, it's our dear uncle in W_DC. IMO
