T-Guy, please share why you are so confident the grid and telecom will work fine.

You may increase my and others' confidence by answering these questions:

...EXACTLY what facts your optimism is founded on.

...what is your represented expertise in both fields? do you work in the trenches at a major utility or telecom company?

...with only 9 months left till jan 1, name all of the utility companies and telecom companies who are 3rd party certified as y2k-compliant.

...inform me EXACTLY what the major utilities have done to have solved their far more crucial embedded systems problems...

...what are the contingency and emergency backup plans of the major utility and telecom companies?

...what is the mean amount of fuel reserves of the majors?

...how do the utility companies fire up if/when trains and heavy transport are significantly delayed (due to a variety of factors)?

...how do they pay their emergency repair and ordinary personnel when banking systems are disrupted?

...given substantial oil disruptions/lessened oil imports, how will that impact utility companies ability to provide for normal operations?

...how much will some/many nuk plants' shutdowns disrupt/affect electricity?

when you finish answering these so as to provide for optimism, I will have the next list of related quesions for you to answer, to provide even more of a case for increased optimism ....
