>I will definitely look into Bright and First call on Monday.

That's FirstAlert chartist.com, Bright is stocktrading.com

>was not quite sure what you meant by "RediPlus is a low-bandwidth app".

In my tests at 9:31am, with YHOO, AMZN, and INTC L2 screens, and 40-50 NYSE bid/ask/last quotes going, Rediplus was sucking up the bandwidth at the rate of 18K to 24K. Your typical dial-up connection with a 56K modem gives you 40K-48K. Therefore, low bandwidth. Even if you have a cable modem that gives you 1500K, Rediplus is still using only 18K to 24K. FirstAlert is another story when you're doing the filtering

>ISDN or ADSL options. How do they compare with cable connection? I was under impression that the next level up for me would be to get a direct connection to my broker's system, instead of using cable modem.

ISDN much slower, ADSL - depends on what your cable company and phone company grant. For both ADSL I've heard from 300K to 6000K. For cable, I've heard from 300K to 10000K.
I don't know what extra a direct connect would do for you. I know a trader who set up 2 RediPlus systems side-by-side, one via internet and one via direct connect, hit the button at the same time (busy time) and got the response at the same time (or at least he couldn't tell the difference. However, the direct connect cost $800/mo for the leased line.

>Am I asking for too much or is the technology out there?

I believe FirstAlert can do it.

>I have been hearing about some traders who run their screening software off of Dos as opposed to Windows to enhance the speed. Do you know anything about that?

Pristine says they use LiveWire... ask them www.pristine.com
