Yes Petekoby, the real interesting aspect of all this is to see how little communism did to erase nationalist emotions that have lead to the many conflicts in the Balkans and former Soviet Union.

On the other hand, capitalism (western Europe being the example) has virtually torn away the emotions that go with nationalism; hatred, fear, etc. Something about capitalism puts all people on the same playing field and ties them into a common community, whereas communism merely suppressed nationalistic feelings instead of changing or eleminating them.

Yugoslavia was a beautiful country prior to a decade of conflict. I just hope the hatred and fear will eventually go away. Probably not any time soon though.
