General Commentary:

No reason for sector to break out of its sideways trading pattern given continued turmoil in
Kosovo, still uncertain earnings outlook, Fed to keep policy on hold and holiday shortened week.

Net stocks have most going for them in that new issues continue to come to market (generating
excitement), top- and bottom-line growth expected to remain impressive and traders anticipate
further consolidation.

Virtually no earnings reports this week, certainly none that will move entire sector... CompUSA
(CPU) due to report on Wednesday with Rocky Mountain Internet (RMII) scheduled for
Thursday... With so little on the calendar, warnings more likely to impact sector than actual reports.

A couple of Internet IPOs set to price this week... Briefing.com expects Priceline.com (PCLN)
to generate a lot of interest, while Critical Path (CPTH) should receive only moderate enthusiasm
(which by Net standards equates to about a 75% jump in first day of trading).

Instead of doing the normal Industry Briefs, today we are highlighting those stocks in each group
that trade at abnormally wide divergences from their long-term moving averages... Though strong
bullish momentum could carry these stocks modestly higher over the next several days,
Briefing.com contends that they are extremely overextended... As such these stocks are ripe for
corrective retreats of between 15% and 20% (over the next one to three months)... This is not to
say that the long-term outlooks for the stocks highlighted are in jeopardy... It's just that when
stocks move away from their long-term moving averages by extreme degrees, they typically
experience a subsequent period of backing and filling... Consequently, if you're holding these
stocks and have a short-term investment horizon now might be a good time to consider reducing
exposure.
