CONTINGENCY PLANNING - TO MEET JUST ONE COUNTY PAYROLL

Montgomery County [Adjacent to Washington D.C.] officials, despite their work to debug their own networks, are taking precautions in case others are not as farsighted. In the days before New Year's Eve 1999, Romer will instruct several banks to stash $14 million in cash in their vaults.

Point of order here... since when are payrolls paid in CASH?

I looked a while ago, and I consume maybe $300 in CASH on average in a month. I recently did a 10 day vacation, took $500 (cash) & returned with well over $300.

If I tried, I know I could get my monthly cash usage well under $300.

Has anyone heard of checks and credit cards?
