The closes to posting a new message is to go to the thread header and reply to the guy who started the thread, but most people don't do that they just reply to someone. If you want to post something entirely unrelated to the post you linked to, just say you are just using that post, but most people will understand this anyway, it is no big deal. BTW, you have your private messages turned off, otherwise I would have sent you this as a PM rather than public. If you want them off, that is fine, but be aware there is a switch under your profile to allow people to send you PMs.
