There was a difference in Vietnam. The Communist threat was real at that time. No longer. Kosovo is a big mistake. JLA

Jim,

That is a fairly "selfish" attitude to have but since you served in Nam I can understand. BTW, IMO Vietnam had nothing to do with genocide etc.. It was a war based on political ideologies that were all false (ie the "domino" theory). My hat is off to anyone who went to Nam because they came to the calling. It was a war that could never be won thanks to the fact that we were trying to impose a foreign will on other people. In Kosovo it is different. Innocent civilians are being slaughtered because they are the wrong ethnicity or religion. By the same token, I believe that NATO should have stepped in 10 years ago when the Slovenians first fought for autonomy.
