michael, your first post concerned me a tad since I don't know you from adam, and still don't. In days gone by many have been burnt by blindly following the posts of self-annointed gurus at SI. But your response has eliminated any concerns.

I no longer read anyone at SI regularly although do converse with those who have specialized knowledge of a stock/sector/market or trading methodologies. But unless the basis or rationale of a post is clear, I will disregard it.

As for your current method of taking a stock position on the third day of its rally, unless you are using momentum metrics or are aware of sustaining fundamentals or events brewing ... this just a trading heuristic that requires validation as does any other heuristic. But relative to stocks I mention in my posts ... I do hope for more than a 3-day run over the course of time.
