Re: "How is this any different that Merced or any other chip before it is actually released? K7 will finally be out and you will get to decide for yourself. Are you saying that no one should talk/speculate about any product before it is released? There has been a whole lot of talk about the Merced and that chip is also not available. Just relax and wait till it comes out (when ever that might be), you do not have to read all the "foil flipping" if you don't want to. All these speculation are just that, SPECULATIONS. But it is by no means it is unique to K7 or AMD in general."

Well you're right, they are both more or less vapor and the Merced more so because there aren't even any behind the curtain demos yet. But Intel isn't betting the farm on Merced like MAD is on the K7. Intel won't go bankrupt without a quick acceptance of Merced while AMD is simply dead if the K7 doesn't meet the highest possible expectations. Considering that every single new product introduction from AMD has been characterized by major screwups, I think the chance of the K7 being the saviour (just like the K5 & K6 were going to be) are essentially zero. AMD is for all intents and purposes dead already. Like I said before, it's the final act, the crowd is hushed, the spotlight is on the fat lady and she's cleared her throat and you know what happens next. AMD will report HUGE losses for Q1, the K7 will be delayed, Q2 will be worse.
