Daniel--- Futile though it may be, I will try--- how is what I wrote "name dropping", which refers to claims of a personal association for purposes of self advancement? I was trying to define the two tendencies by reference to a couple of magazines and some prominent exponents, nothing else. Since I was not expounding "dogma", I don't know what your problem is. Now, since you seem to be dying to know, I have met Irving Kristol, Norman Podhoretz, Jeanne Kirkpatrick, and Hilton Kramer, the editor of The New Criterion. I also have met Bob Tyrrell, the editor of The American Spectator. I have not met Charles Peters or Marty Peretz, although I attended a conference where Peretz was in the audience. Of those I have met, I know none of them well. I have published a bit in a couple of their magazines. Anyway, I didn't say how much they had influenced my thought at the time or subsequently, I was just trying to remind her of things associated with the tendencies.
