Brian,

Thanks for taking the time to post your lengthy response. I get a little paranoid about my continued lack of brevity. :)

Seriously, I think all your points should be strongly considered. Rightly or wrongly, you and I appear to be on the same page. I'm sure John appreciated your points about Qualcomm sticking to its knitting that it does best -- ASICs and the like, as opposed to competing with the big boys in the manufacturing and consumer marketing sector.

Frank,

The post you provided from the Qualcomm thread (I haven't visited it yet) was terrific. It shows that though TDMA and GSM are older technologies, that in itself doesn't make CDMA a slam dunk. If CDMA was absolutely superior on all fronts that affect product adoption, no one would still be talking about GSM and TDMA. That's clearly not the case. Yet.

Additionally, all communications products that came after the cans-and-a-string technology are immensely affected by the standards bodies. Those bodies can help slow or increase the market's growth. Until they act in unison in favor of CDMA, there will always be a certain degree of hesitancy in the market place.
