Compaq offers low-priced deskpro models

HOUSTON, March 29 (Reuters) - Compaq Computer Corp. said on Monday it
introduced four new Deskpro systems, bringing two models, which do not include monitors,below $1,000 for the first time.

The four PCs come with Microsoft Corp.'s (Nasdaq:MSFT - news) Windows 95 and have computer chips powered by Intel Corp.'s (Nasdaq:INTC - news) 350 megahertz Pentium II or 400 megahertz Celeron processors, the company said.

Prices on the new Deskpro models including monitors range from $1,229 through $1,349, depending upon the computer chip and other features.
