I have been providing my personal opinions relative to UTEK based upon the following assumptions: 1.) individual investors have not fallen in love with the company and are focused on their investment (risk and return), 2.) negative posts are as helpful as positive posts as long as they are relevant to the underlying performance factors governing the value of the stock, In general, investors should be wary of environments where positive news is freely accepted while negative news is treated with suspicion. Perhaps this thread should be renamed "investors seeking good news re: UTEK". A healthy dose of skepticism is always useful when evaluating information, particularly if your money is at stake! My posts have generally been negative primarily because UTEK has been immersed in negative factors (general semiconductor sector induced and competitive changes relative to UTEK's target markets) for quite some time. Please note the recent recovery for virtually all of the equipment makers except for UTEK. Would you have benefited by dumping UTEK last year and reinvesting in the other equipment companies I mentioned in my 10/26/98 post? AMAT 10/26/98 Price of 33.25, 3/29/99 price of 60.25 KLAC 10/26/98 Price of 34.5, 3/29/99 price of 51 11/16 ASML 10/26/98 Price of 21 5/8, 3/29/99 price of 43 5/8 UTEK 10/26/98 Price of 18, 3/29/99 price of 14 UTEK was a very good story several years ago. For all the same reasons, it is a very bad story today. The company did nothing wrong, the end user technology requirements have become more demanding and industry giants (Nikon, ASML and Canon) have now targeted UTEK's customer base. End of story. If you are interested in investing in this particular technology, ASML is the only pure play stock available since the other suppliers are part of companies which serve additional markets. If you are interested in investing in semiconductor manufacturing equipment companies in general, surely AMAT, KLAC etc. are the players that will dominate. Please inform me of any misinformation that you believe I have provided.
