Hello All, Missed the last 3,000 or so posts, doesn't anyone on this thread work? :-) WHEW it has been busy! Well the most recent additions to my system are the obscenely enjoyable Matrox 4-port 2D / Quantum Obsidian 24X Dual-VooDoo2 3D, video cards outputing to 3 Viewsonic PS790s (I am saving the 4th port for a 21' or flat, and the recuperation of my bank account). And giving me almost as much enjoyment are the Data-Stor (Aluminum) removable hard-drive enclosures, no hard-drive should be without one. It's the simple things in life... I put together a box for my neighbor, an overclocked 300a (no hitches, thank you jon@Minotaur). I was so pleased with the end result I have recomended it to others and will and set-up three more boxes the same way. Proposed System: $57.00 Enlight EN-7230 mid-tower case (4 exterior 5" bays) $115.00 Abit BX6 2.0 mother board (P III support) $75.00 Celeron 300A @ 450mz (anyone know of any other vendors besides Minotaur (out-of-stock) selling pretested 300As? $45.00 Glacier 4500C + Arctic Cap (quad on-cpu fan) ??? 128 mb Looking for a memory type / manufacturer recomendation, price / performance $374.00 CTX-VL 950S USB 19" monitor (short depth, w/USB hub) $130.00 ATI RAGE FURY 32 mb AGP (32 bit 3D, DVD-handling / Tom's Hardware reports it runs hot!? Hmmm...) $220.00 IBM 14GXP 10gb @7200 rpm (that Maxtor is a definite possibility ZP) $78.00 Imation LS-120 floppy (I always debate this one) $160.00 Adaptec 2940UW SCSI card $105.00 Plextor UltraPlex 32X SCSI internal CD-ROM $70.00 3Com 56k V.90 faxmodem internal $55.00 SBLive! value (I know some here are bullish on the Ensonics, should I be as well?) $105.00 Altec-Lansing ACS-48 PowerCube Plus (stand back, this thing is lit) $41.00 Logitech cordless mouse $25.00 MS Natural keyboard _______ $1805.00 Total Well let me hear some thoughts. It is good to get back to this thread, some great dialog here. mowa
