"We don't want their spam." Of course not. But if someone there has a valuable contribution, I'd like to hear it. The person in question happens to be an Economics professor who has written extensively, and I'm hoping he will share some of his thinking here. Think in terms of gestalt.

Nearly any TA book you pick up will include something about TA-compared-to-alternatives. I think it's a valuable inclusion. But if you (or others) strongly feel otherwise, PLEASE post the *rationale* for those feelings, because that too is also an extremely valuable contribution here. And if you want to focus exclusively on TA, when non-TA inclusions, relating back to TA systems, appear valuable to novices, then you should begin another thread, Technical Analysis -- Advanced.
