i leave you with a point to ponder...do you recall korean phenom aimed at first time and small business....."leading edge"....where are they now..

lets look at the situation as business people...quality components cost the same, perhaps even a lower cost to large volume buyers as cpq,dell,gtw,hwp,ibm....so low price equates to lesser components or lower labor cost...include in landed cost from korea to usa poe..and you have low margin...and no after sale reliable service...

concept hasn't worked in any technology driven business...unless subsidized by a third party, as in the case of cell phones and pagers....giving away computers in return for internet access theoretically ok...but a how can an unprofitable entity subsidize a thin margin operation...an apocalyptical thought in itself...

not too many years ago large business felt 386 and 486 dumb workstations would survive the millenium...didn't happen...
