gary...re:dell priced to the market

dell will only price to the market if a profit can be made...would be unwise if they try to establish a loss leader...for it is of no benefit to their business model...analysts can't grasp the concept of different and discrete markets for similar type product category...tend to blend all together which shows lack of business acumen and understanding of a niche marketing concept...

gary as a businessman, i ask you would you sell a product at or close to a loss, taking production time and manufacturing capacity away from higher margin profit units...

the only way you can afford to do this is if you have no high profit product to manufacture...

something for every one....never engage in combat if you can't prevail....and if you prevail in the arena of price cutting...the wounds inflicted to be declared the victor....most times are fatal...
(,ast, att, ncr, leading edge, packard bell, canon, hyundai,ad infinitum....for the most part...the common thread is offshore entity and offshore production....where the value of after sale service not considered!...and jit/bto cannot be effective if the product is an import....can't ship direct to the consumer!!!)

Gary: I was referring to emachines - have you seen figures re. the company being profitable? I am skeptical.
