I understand the sentiment, and it is reasonable. But once it comes out, a response is necessary. My argument is that while the response was imperfect, it was serious enough to show that we do not take these matters lightly, and to discourage anything like this in the future. Now, it up to the next President to bring a sense of dignity and honor back to the office.
