nope, it has nothing to do w/ the XAU. The XAU trades on expectations of future gold prices.

but the Japanese yr-end is important to US stocks, bonds and gold. I'll let you figure out why.

don't worry though... the real fun won't start till after the yr-end.

Federal Reserve Shareholders List "Not Available"

In response to my questions, the Fed sent me a faxed copy of a Congressional Report Service report on the Fed. I quote:

"These (the 12 regional Federal Reserve Banks) are private institutions with certain privileges granted to them, restricted to conducting business specified by the Federal Reserve Act. As private institutions, they are "owned" by their "stockholders", they make their own pay and hiring policies, and pay local property taxes."

Now we know that the Fed is privately owned. We just don't know owned by WHO. Strangely enough, the Fed doesn't have the information "on hand":

"Dear Mr. Childers,
We don't have a complete list of all shareholding organizations in
all 12 fed banks and the number of shares or capital held by each. You can contact the Freedom of Information Board, Federal Reserve Board, Washington D.C. 20551 for information on that level of detail. Hope you got my fax.
Tim DeWolf"

Why don't they know who the shareholders are? It's not like the stock changes hands every day on the stock exchange!

I'll let you know if I receive a list of shareholders.
