Re: Could someone more techy then me please post a better explaination about the asterisk and what we can do about it.

Asterisk (*) just indicates the reply was not received by your system within the time-to-live window (off the top of my head, not sure what the expiry time is). The reply packet may either have been lost, or simply received too late. Could be caused by network congestion, equipment failures along the way, or misconfigured routing tables.

Not much you can do since the fault is way upstream of you. We're able to still communicate with CSW probably because a backup/fail-over route is available.

To All, re - sluggish Stockwatch connectivity.

I've spoken to the webmaster, and we are treating the slow download/slow connection problems to CSW with the highest degree of urgency. If we've saturated our Internet bandwidth we will upgrade immediately.

If you experience any further problems along this line, don't hesitate to email the webmaster directly. He'd love to see your tracerts. mailto:webmaster@canada-stockwatch.com

We don't think that you will be able to achieve better results by tweaking TCP/IP parameters.

Thanks,
Gerry Rempel
