Saf:

I've been yapping about the Iridium albatross around Motorola's neck for about a year. In some of my earlier posts, I pointed out that Motorola was experiencing difficulty in every single division, although my main worry was the debt taken on to finance Iridium and the complete lack of customers either present or future. Several months ago, I ran a very amateur survey (which I consider to be an excellent tool, by the way), in which I endeavoured to find ANY people who would have the need for or the ability to pay for this service. The results were just about zero. I also worried about other, much cheaper devices that provide good communications for remotely located personnel. Magellen in particular stands out.

Motorola has bet the farm on Iridium. Unless a miracle occurs, they have lost the bet. Motorola is just outside my top five on the "Hit" Parade.

Best, Earlie
