Bill,
I was hoping, that you jumped in somewhere around low 40. How does it look from the sidelines????
I was "in and out" for many times. Last time I got "in" at 36, and plan to stay, until Scrapps' " $80 in June. :o))) ".
I am only moving up my "stop" order. I am hoping that nobody will buy this company right now. It happened in the past to AMTX.
Good luck.
Z.

[1995] Aware WSQ Software Certified by FBI

Bedford MA....October 13, 1995....Aware, Inc. is the first officially certified WSQ (wavelet scalar quantization) vendor for the FBI's WSQ Gray-Scale Fingerprint Image Compression Specification.

The FBI and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) did an intensive review of various compression algorithms for use in the IAFIS infrastructure which will facilitate an all digital fingerprint ID system. After evaluating several compression approaches, a wavelet- based algorithm was called WSQ was selected.

WSQ is a wavelet transform based compression standard designed by the FBI for compression of digital fingerprint images. The computationally intensive WSQ algorithm demands high performance compression and decompression routines.

Wavelets are recently discovered mathematical functions which have proven extremely effective at providing high quality compression at high ratios. Wavelet transform based data compression techniques currently provide the best solution when transmitting or storing large volumes of digital imagery.

WSQ by Aware is designed to be easily incorporated into existing applications. The software can compress images sizes from a minimum of 360 pixels to a maximum of 2000 pixels. It includes linkable libraries with a simple to use memory to memory application programming interface (API) providing application developers and system integrators a convenient method of incorporating WSQ solutions into their systems. WSQ by Aware is available on more than twelve computing platforms - including Windows and all major Unix systems.

WSQ by Aware is incorporated in systems as diverse as the Texas Department of Motor vehicle all digital registration system from Polaroid Inc., to the new, all digital Boston Police Department booking station from Comnetix, Inc.

WSQ by Aware is available immediately. Pricing starts at $995 for a single user license with volume discounts available for system integrators and application developers.

Aware, Inc. is a privately held leader in providing bandwidth management solutions for broadband communications, imaging systems and digital media. Aware's modem software and chip-sets, image compression software and chipsets and audio compression software allow users to effectively use scarce bandwidth resources. Aware pioneered the use of wavelet technology for commercial applications.
