Calgon Carbon Corporation Sues Trojan
Technologies Inc. For Unfair Competition and
Antitrust Violations

PITTSBURGH, Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to a suit for patent infringement filed in the U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of Georgia, Calgon Carbon Corporation (NYSE: CCC - news) and its subsidiary Calgon
Carbon Canada, Inc. (collectively known as ''Calgon Carbon''), manufacturers of a municipal ultraviolet (UV)
wastewater disinfection system known as the Aurora UV(TM) Disinfection System, have instituted a counter-suit for
antitrust violations and unfair competition against patent claimant Trojan Technologies Inc. Calgon Carbon, which
seeks to have Trojan's patent claim dismissed based on the invalidity and noninfringement of the asserted U.S. Patent
No. 5,590,390 for a Fluid Treatment System and Process, has instituted antitrust and unfair competition claims based
on Trojan's attempt to restrain trade in the medium pressure UV wastewater disinfection system market. Calgon
Carbon's claim asserts that Trojan has engaged in anticompetitive acts stemming from the controversy leading to the
litigation, including wrongfully filing suit for infringement against Calgon Carbon and the City of Hinesville, GA, and by
wrongfully threatening Calgon Carbon's customers with infringement claims in an attempt to intimidate and dissuade
them against doing business with Calgon Carbon. The Honorable B. Avant Edenfield, U.S. District Judge, will be
presiding over the litigation.
Good luck, hope this stock makes us all happy soon
