Otter, VLSI really did it this time with the order!

VLSI wins $34mln contract from Samsung Electronics
SAN JOSE, Calif., March 29 (Reuters) - Chipmaker VLSI Technology Inc. (Nasdaq:VLSI - news) said Monday it had won a $34 million contract from Samsung Electronics Co, its largest single order.

The majority of the order for VLSI chipsets, to be used in Samsung's current and future generation of wireless telephones, is expected to be delivered in the third quarter of this year.

Samsung Electronics is a flagship unit of the giant Korea-based Samsung Group .

VLSI is currently fighting off a $777 million hostile takeover by Royal Philips Electronics . Earlier Monday, VLSI, which is looking for strategic alternatives, said it reached an agreement granting other parties access to nonpublic information concerning VSLI.

Even though I think that the Stein information sounds like he's done deplorable things, I don't want to waste our energy on him at this point. He is presumably trying to get us the best price for our shares and is in the midst of delicate negotiations. So any attempt to punish him for what he may have done might detract from the strength of our bargaining position. IMO, it only helps Phillips and other low bidders to focus on ousting Stein right now.
