You can't break up an order greater than 10 and bang them in one after the next. Also, if you had only done 10 at a clip, the options specialists still gets a chance to evaluate market before reinstating autofill on Raes or Pace. Lastly, autos are only for options of $10 or more. The 5 buck option doesnt work with autofills.
On your larger piece, you wnat to give down in smaller pieces else you'll weigh on it. IN that instance, the market maker claimed the option was in a fast market, the quote is what you called subject, meaning with no action in it, he has to be more concerned with more active options and thus it is not a firm quote as a result of the fast market. lastly, options were ahead.
also, dont forget about opening rotation. first they work through all market opening orders, strike by strike, month by month, and DONT come back to the previous ones for open trading until all have been gone through on opening rotation. so if you dont have a market order, regardless of your limit, you might not make the opening rotation, and thus the market maker in the options doesnt even come back to deal with a open market on all series for 14 minutes or so.
That is often what frustrates options traders at openings.
hope that helps a bit.
