Gene,

<"Who's going to buy a car or furniture without sitting in it?">

Why not? We bought nearly $4000 worth of furniture via the net last year. The actual order was placed on the phone but the contact was made via the net. If you can see the furniture or car at a show room...what difference does it make where you get it?? This is the dilemma the store fronts are going to face. Many people will go to store X to check out product Y, but then go mail order or internet to place the actual order. That's why these store fronts better get serious about getting a web presence, if they haven't already.

Speaking of on-line shopping...my wife found a site with extremely good prices on all kinds of staples (soap, deodorant, shampoo, etc etc). If you buy more than $50's worth of product there isn't even any shipping charges. Let's see, cheaper prices, easy ordering, and delivery to my door??? Dial soap is dial soap, whether I buy it at K-mart or via the net. This goes for just about everything. The only thing I see lagging is produce and perishable goods. IMO, very few people have any idea big of an impact E-commerce is going to have. E-commerce will be the biggest influence on our economy and society since the industrial revolution. Oh and by the way....lots of infrastructure will be needed to support this new world order (pun intended).
