as far as portfolio value, you can do it in Mytrack.. I'm using bullsession.com for unlimited streaming realtime portfolio quotes
and it constantly updates the portfolio values in real time as well..
so I just make entries after each transaction..buy or sell..and watch the values of each individual stock and the total go up and down in real time with each trade that occurs

Individual Investor has a "Real Time portfolio area. It keeps track of all of the stocks, even saves closed positions with purchase/sale and profit or loss data. I have instant access to the value of my positions at any time. The only park I do not like is I have to hit reload to get the current real time pricing. But for free, it.s worth the hit.

iionline.com

Take a look, You may find it useful.

A friend has recommended Stock Monitor which is shareware and can be downloaded from www.shareware.com. He likes it quite a bit and I'll be trying it in a couple days.

The software is called pencil and paper - the old-fashoined way. That's how I do it.
