Coyote Network Systems Requests SEC To Investigate Recent Stock Trading

Westlake Village, CA – December 14, 1998 – Coyote Network Systems (Nasdaq: CYOE), today said it has requested the Securities & Exchange Commission to investigate recent trading in the Company's common stock to determine whether there has been any market manipulation or other potential illegal activity. On December 9th, TheStreet.Com (TSC) published articles about Coyote Network Systems that the Company believes are incomplete and misleading.

Since TSC published the initial articles, there has been significant activity among various Internet "chat" rooms, with many statements made that the Company believes have caused significant harm to the Company, its shareholders, customers and vendors. In addition, the trading volume on December 9th and 11th were approximately 2.4 and 2.3 million shares, respectively. The average daily trading volume in the Company's common stock over the past month was less than 200,000 shares per day.
