The crunch won't happen (or at least it won't register with investors) for another couple years. For right now, Amazon is likely to move up, maybe to new highs on this news. The gambit of the Internet auction thing should bring in a new cadre of speculators. A lot depends on how well and how quickly the auction site is perceived to be shaping up. It opens Tuesday.

It is a good move for Amazon . . . For Christ's sake, they MUST do whatever they can to grow to a size that can start to justify the huge debt they have taken on and the razor thin margins that are the reality of the Internet.
