You admire the hippies [mainly] rightly. What I was trying to bring out in several posts was that this was a movement. It had a front line and places unaffectd. Later, the front would have gotten better - less simple tribal copying, more sophisticated cooperative ways. Likewise, the rear would move more to the front. Still, there would be the unmoved and the accomodating. Still later the forward line would be mature, and the rest of society would be incorporated.
What happened instead was the movement was destroyed by the physical force of society. The movement was gone. No purists, no improvements, no one to follow.
