Les--- Unfortunately, that sounds just about right for this shameful bungle...As for the macrovirus, it may be that Daniel is not on the thread any more, but that this is a macrovirus infecting the SI server. After all, it has made a point of excusing its refusal to argue, and its posts, as nuke has pointed out, have been without content. How hard is it to imitate a surly drunk? On the other hand, it responds more or less appropriately to our posts, which is beyond any current program, so I guess the theory is untenable. Still, it has a certain poetic charm...

Les,

The Stratfor analysis is indeed interesting.

Milosevic has been in the driver seat ever since threats of bombing by NATO were used as a tool :

He knew a bombing would cost more to Albanians and NATO than to himself, and he acted accordingly.

The threats were a mistake, the bombing is a disaster, and it may well be that the US has to rely on Russia to take them out of this very deep hole we have been digging. (How pathetic.)

There are so many variables now war is going on that I don't see any outcome as certain.

I think what drove Clinton in this episode was a desperate attempt to rewrite the history of his Presidency to something like : " He was a womanizer but gave Americans the strongest economy ever, and revealed himself a statesman during his handling of the Balkans crisis...." (The parallels he drew with WW2 and Churchill were telling)

Instead history will read something like " He was as reckless and selfish in his private life as in his handling of foreign policy, and in the end, most people hated him for it. "

No matter what Shuh would like people to think, this President is one of the greatest calamity in US history.
