"Scenario-In the morning I clean my cache and the Java console and try to
open the new canada/US Ticker. The screen says Illegal operation
performed.I shut down and place one stock in portfolio 4 in Canada.I fire up
the canadian Ticker with one version of stockwatch and minimize the screen.I
then open a second copy of stockwatch and start the live ticker from portfoilo
1 which has Canadian and US.It works no problem as long as I go back and
disconnect portfolio 4 and close it and close the copy of CSW I used to open
it.

Osprey, I have very similar problems ... but I have found a simpler work around. To prevent 99% of crashes when starting the real-time ticker, I will first (after clearing cache, etc.) open up a real-time intra-day java chart (and then close it) for any stock in my portfolio. After that, no problems starting the ticker.

I agree, work arounds are not the ultimate solution and a real fix for the problem should be pursued. Obviously though, this doesn't seem to be happening to everyone. What system and O/S are you running? What O/S upgrades have you installed?
