The OGS does it again! Dr. Fred Breaks is a credit to his profession!

What more can I say - just when I thought all my research and contacts re. Ta, Ce and Li had been for not - enter Pakeagama Lake. For those already in - CONGRATULATIONS! Wait until you see the OGS report - I'm reading it now. One can not help but be impressed by the results to date - this one has all the makings of a very significant discovery!

I'll post a few quotes from Dr. Breaks report later today - the potential size of the pegmatite, the zonation and Ta/Ce grades, and comparisons to other pegmatites (ie. Tanco) is beyond all expectations. The OGS report is a must read! This property is going to attract a lot of attention!

From the 1999 OGS Open File Report, #169: "Rare-Metal Mineralization Associated with the Berens River-Sachigo Subprovincial Boundary, Northwestern Ontario: Discovery of a New Zone of Complex-Type, petlaite Subtype Pegmatite and Implications for Future Exploration" by F.W. Breaks, A.G Tindle, and S.R. Smith.

I'll highlight a few points in addition to the summary report findings (in quotes):

Pakeagama Lake Pegmatite
- "A large, undeformed, steeply dipping, strong zoned pegmatite mass with a minimum strike length of 250 metres ...open to the southeast and northwest."

Mineral Chemistry Sheds Light on Exploration Potential
- "Potassium-feldspar chemistry has been well established as a useful tool in the economic valuation of pegmatites. In particular, the Rubidium (Rb) and cesium (Ce) contents and the K/Rb ratio in blocky potassium-feldspar are important in discriminating between rare-metal-enriched pegmatites and those that are barren of such metals."
- 'Concentrations of rubidium (mean 1.11%) and cesium (mean 0.83%) are highly anomalous and indicative of a complex type pegmatite system. This assessment is supported by the K/Rb vs. Ce content, a plot useful in assessing economic potential, where most analyses (samples) from the Pakeagama Lake area plot witin the Bernic Lake pegmatite group ... which includes the Tanco Pegmatite'.

Cesium
- "This pegmatite system also contains pollucite, the only ore mineral for cesium... and indicates a high exploration potential for zones rich in cesium."
- "Especially noteworthy is the presence of pollucite as several recessively-weathered crystals up to 2 by 4 cm in part of a 30 cm dyke of potassium-feldspar-green tourmaline-quartz-albite which is situated 120 m south of the main rare-metal pegmatite mass."
- Ce prices: Pollucite (crushed ore - 24% Cs20): $1000/t

Tantalum/Oxide minerals
- Indicatirs of exploration potential:
1. "Dark brown casserite contains up to 5% Ta2O5."
2. "A well-defined trend of chemical evolution, expressing a change from mangano columbite into menganotantalite is obvious... Such evolutionary trends indicate a high potential for tantalum-rich zones in the pegmatite system."
3. "An absence of relatively primitive ferrocolumbite compositions ... is also notable and supports the high exploration potential for tantalum".
- Ta prices: Tantalum concentrate (35-38% Ta205): US$40/lb

Lithium
- "We therefore have interpreted that a large, lithium-rich, blind pegmatite mass occurs at shallow depth within the anomalous Li area."
- Montebrasite, which occurs abundantly in some zones of the Pakeagama Lake pegmatite, is an additional commodity to consider in exploration of the pegmatite. There is cureently a limited market for this high lithium mineral (9.3-10.2% L120), which has application to production of high phosphate frits and ceramic glazes."
- Li prices:

Spodumene concentrate (7.5% Li20): US$1763-2206/t
Spodumene glass grade (4.8% Li20): US$363-385/t
Petalite (4.3% Li20): US$195-260/t

__________

Comment: The amount of work already completed by Dr. Breaks and his associates speaks well for the exploration potential of this property. I'll do a quick sketch of the markets for the above once I review my files. Anyone with any current market info. or comments/questions on the above, please jump in.
