mfgrep, from the discussions I've had with others, LVLT presents itself as an Internet future, as opposed to a present-day workhorse. It's got that kind of appeal, like so many of the other 'nets. QWST, on the other hand, is perceived by many as one of those hit-the-ground-running companies wasting no time in providing traditional services, and oh yeah, by the way, they will be there in the future, too. The reality is that both companies are currently engaged in some rather ambitious high-bandwidth service undertakings (of course, this is aside from the retail streams which QWST has picked up from the PSTN services, which, in my opinion, serves to detract from its true future value on the 'net side). These perceptions serve to fuel an already-present herd instinct surrounding the net stocks, in which LVLT is perceived to be a part, IMO. Frank_C.

ps - I just reread your post, and others which preceded it, and I may have read you wrong, but there's no time to edit at this point with one minute remaining on the edit curfew.[g] I suppose I'll let it stand the way it is on its own merit. No harm done...
