The car had been booby trapped by Italian communist automobile worker unionists so that on the tachometer reaching 4000 rpm or on the date of the explosion, whichever came first, the automobile would automatically explode. We enclose our check for all your costs made out to your son. Sincerely, xxx The check was still in the envelope. Amazing, isn't it, how a snap decision can sometimes save one from a disaster?
