Is there a simple technique that you might share to determine how you might get an indication of;

sector activity
relative position of stock
merits of news/timing

These three things probably require a lifetime of study, though any illustration of process that you might use would helpful.

Rather that form #'s, analyst reports, etc...I am curious how you might approach a company such as Broadvision.

They are a supplier, software company, for tools that assist corporations in implementing ONE-ONE marketing/relationship activities.
Their approach is BIG SYSTEM (like SAP) versus the traditional consulting/custom software like NetPerceptions or niche suppliers Viant.

These suppliers address the enormous demand released by the implementation of large scale computer systems (ERP-SAP, Oracle, Baan, JDE...), Call Centres (Genesys...), WEB sites and electronic commerce, as well as communities such as SI, GeoCities, NetTaxi.

Sorry for the length of the question and if any other sector is easier for you to explain, any feedback, short or long is appreciated. This is an area which I know, but there are many others of interest.
The simple (though not necessarily easy) techniques is what I lack.

Thanks

ynot :)
