chuzz...inflated stock and egos... the past week or so on this thread has been extremely frustrating..i find most as yourself rational...but i sometimes question the investment community for the less than logical views that they stand by... cash...yes, i survived my business life by following some basic rules such as "cash is king"...in the sense that tangible and liquid assets will allow you to ride out lean periods..."prefer gross margin over sales"....easier to run a million dollar business with 30% margins than a ten million dollar business with 3% margins"...gross profit the same...but the higher sales volume creates added overheads and lessens the bottom line...this is what i feel is occuring with the likes of amzn...how can sales grow and profits lessen...perhaps a cumbersome infrastructure, but if so, responsibility goes to less than adequate management... how can an analysts hold a company in high esteem because it grows sales and sacrifices profits...a "money losing" business model does not take much discipline and execution...can amazon grow into the on line walmart that it desires to be...perhaps...but product cannot be e-delivered, it is still retail, and the greater the sales, the more the overhead both bricks and mortar and humans. the simplicity of the dell business model is not understood...when it is, i believe we will see the relaunch of the company in analysts eyes..as usual too late to reap the "out of favor" appreciation...i look at emc as a company similar to dell.... we currently are at the table of the mad hatter... "you can say any fool thing to a dog, and the dog will give you this look that says, 'My God,you're RIGHT! I NEVER would've thought of that!'.....dave barry keep your sanity...the times they are a changing...ed a.
