chuzz...e-tailing food for thought...fill in the numbers... are we so far removed from our recent past to think of "e-tailing" as a fresh unique concept, which by the standards of prepubescent analysts deserve to be evaluated as an entity never known to modern man... e-tailing = retailing internet order=mail order were not the montgomery wards, spiegels and sears catalogue sales thru originally mail and then phone after its invention and small order centers in essence the concept that e-tailers emulate...can look thru a sears catalogue as fast as a web page...can order on the phone as quick as the net...don't have to leave my house...what am i missing, that holds the electronic catalogues of the internet above the mail order entities of the past over 100 years... as discussed the values are perceptions based on future earnings...but at what point do the perceptions turn real along with the admission that e-tailers are not frontiersman...charting new paths thru the wilderness to the consumers pocket... barnes and noble, borders can grow with bricks mortar and inventory, and cafe latte, with profit...lean and mean amazon, no bricks and mortar, not even espresso as you browse...bleeds profusely as revenues increase...ebay is a clearing house, on line flea market...what extra does it offer than weekend suburban yard sales...aol...a party line telephone community,,for the anonymous and lonely of the world, not a real isp..a 90's style hangout...where you don't have to dress up or even wash... so i pose the question to all..what is the uniqueness, the proprietary niche, the new method, the higher efficiency, the perceived value that the mad hatters market places on e-tailers.. best regards, ed a.
