>>I'm considering buying CPU but my thoughts are wouldn't internet sales cut into their own store sales??<<

Some percentage of those who would buy from the bricks and morter store would also shop the net for a better price. But better to cannibolize your own sales channel because the the on-line shoppers can simply go to the competition. Also, the stores could actually enhance the on-line sales if the channels work together under the single brand name.

Hopefully CPU management will implement a strategy that increases customer satisfaction, market share, profits and thus shareholder value at the expense of it's competitors. It requires agility to win the marketing wars, but what a prize. It's all up for grabs, and CPU has inherent advantages. But they can easily blow it with inertia or lack of strategic thinking IMO.

Nomatter what this stock(CPU) Is currently undervalued. An Internet business gives the company an edge because it opens up a whole new market that they WOULD NOT have had previously. You almost have to look at them as two different busineses, but it is a definate advantage, as the consumer wants the option of buying online, I know I do!!

<<Does anyone have any thoughts on these issues? Thanks.>>

CompUSA must sell through the Internet.
The best business model for selling through Internet involves evading
state sale taxes via not having a physical presence in the specific state.
The best way for CompUSA to implement it's Internet strategy would
be to set up a separate company that would be able to sell and not charge
a state sales tax. Something that is not possible for CompUSA.
Hence compusanet.com born.

Sure is a nice day
