Don't know, really, but NTAP's employees are rewarded with options, which may have something to do with the secondary offering.

personally, i'm not viewing this as a major event or a secondary à la an IPO. 2.5M shares will only increase NTAP's outstanding common shares by 3.6% for a total of 71.9 million shares. however, i think your general concern is valid. typically, secondaries aren't a healthy thing (for us shareholders, anyway).
